PDF to QFX

PDF statements to QFX, with the balances proven

StatementLoom turns a text PDF statement into a QFX file, the Web Connect format Quicken imports, after checking every transaction against the statement’s own balances. Read what Quicken says about converted files first. For a US-dollar statement, a CSV of the same statement is the fallback if Quicken refuses the QFX.

How it works

  1. 01

    Upload the text PDF statement

  2. 02

    Check the balance proof

  3. 03

Download the .qfx file (or CSV for a US-dollar statement)

Checked before you download

Opening balance plus every transaction must equal the closing balance, and every printed running balance must follow from the row above. If anything is off, you see the exact rows, not a silently wrong file.

Stable transaction IDs

Each transaction gets the same ID every time you export the same statement, so finance software that skips IDs it has already seen does not import it twice.

QFX and CSV from one upload

Every reconciled statement can be downloaded as QFX, OFX, QBO, Excel and CSV, so a refused file does not mean converting again.

Deleted after 24 hours

Uploads and everything read from them are deleted automatically 24 hours after upload (or after 7 or 30 days if your workspace chooses), or right away when you click delete. Your statements are never used to train AI models.

What Quicken says about converted QFX files

Quicken’s Web Connect help says that Web Connect files need online services to validate the file, and that Quicken does not support QFX files created by third-party conversion software, such as PDF-to-QFX converters. If such a file does not open, Quicken will not help with it (Quicken).

So treat the QFX download as worth a try, not as a guarantee. StatementLoom checks that the transactions add up; it cannot make Quicken accept a file.

Importing into Quicken

  • QFX, Quicken for Windows: File, then File Import, then Web Connect (.QFX) File. Quicken for Mac: File, then Import, then Bank or Brokerage File (OFX, QFX) (Quicken).
  • CSV fallback, Quicken for Windows: File, then File Import, then Banking Transactions, then From (.CSV) File. Dates must be month-first (mm/dd/yyyy), and a CSV import does not match existing transactions, so importing the same file twice creates duplicates (Quicken).
  • Quicken for Windows says it cannot import Excel, QuickBooks, PDF or OFX files (Quicken), so use the QFX download, or the CSV download for a US-dollar statement. StatementLoom writes CSV dates month-first only for US-dollar statements; for other currencies, change the dates to mm/dd/yyyy before a Quicken CSV import.

Avoid importing a period twice

Quicken’s Mac help warns that importing dates you already have creates duplicate transactions. Before importing, check the statement period against the last transaction in the Quicken register. The free QFX validator shows a file’s period and transaction count.

Questions

Will Quicken accept the QFX file?
It may not. Quicken says it does not support QFX files made by conversion software and that Web Connect files are validated online. If Quicken refuses the file and the statement is in US dollars, download CSV from the same statement (its dates are month-first) and use Quicken’s CSV import.
Is QFX the same as OFX?
QFX (Quicken File eXchange) is Quicken’s Web Connect file. Quicken for Windows imports QFX but not plain OFX files; Quicken for Mac’s import menu lists both OFX and QFX.
Do I need an account to download QFX?
QBO, QFX and OFX downloads need a free account. Without one, the free converter reads up to 10 pages a day and downloads Excel or CSV.
