Clean a bank CSV for QuickBooks Online or Xero

Upload the CSV your bank exports and get the columns your accounting software imports: one date format, one signed amount or separate credit and debit columns, plain decimals. Skipped rows are listed before you download. Free, and the file is not kept.

What the cleaner changes, and what it leaves alone

Changes the layout

Columns, date format, decimal separator and the way money in and money out are written, to match the import you picked.

Never drops a row quietly

Every line ends up converted, listed as skipped with its text, or listed as a problem that stops the download.

Cannot check the bank’s numbers

The cleaner does not check the rows against the statement’s opening and closing balances. Compare the totals with the statement before you import.

Only have the PDF statement?

StatementLoom reads text PDF statements and checks every row against the statement’s own balances before you download CSV or Xero CSV. Try the free converter or start a free account.

Questions

Which bank CSV files work?
A CSV up to 2 MB and 10,000 rows with a header row in its first 30 lines that has a date column and either an amount column or separate debit and credit columns. Commas, semicolons, tabs and pipes are detected, and so are comma decimals such as 1.234,56.
Can a row go missing?
No row is dropped without being listed. Rows without a date or amount (titles, balances, blank lines) are shown as skipped with their text, and a row that cannot be read blocks the download until you fix it.
Why do I have to choose the date order?
When no day in the file is above 12, 03/04/2026 could be 3 April or 4 March. The cleaner will not guess, so it asks.
Is my file stored?
No. It is read to build the preview and the download, and is not kept.
