Credit card statements

Credit card statements, with charges and payments the right way round

A card statement’s balance is what you owe: purchases add to it and payments reduce it. StatementLoom checks every row against that balance and exports charges as money out and payments as money in.

How it works

  1. 01

    Upload the card statement PDF

  2. 02

    Check the balance proof

  3. 03

    Download Excel, CSV or QBO

Checked before you download

Opening balance plus every transaction must equal the closing balance, and every printed running balance must follow from the row above. If anything is off, you see the exact rows, not a silently wrong file.

Flipped signs get flagged

If a refund, credit or payment is read the wrong way round, the rows no longer add up to the statement’s balances, and the rows that break the check are flagged and shown.

Deleted after 24 hours

Uploads and everything read from them are deleted automatically 24 hours after upload (or after 7 or 30 days if your workspace chooses), or right away when you click delete. Your statements are never used to train AI models.

Signs in a card CSV

Card exports disagree about signs: Intuit notes that in a card CSV, payments to the card may appear as negative amounts because they reduce the balance.

  • StatementLoom’s CSV and Excel sign every row by cash flow: charges negative, payments and refunds positive.
  • Xero wants card payments positive and purchases negative in its CSV import (Xero Central).
  • QuickBooks Online notes that card CSVs can show payments as negative amounts. Intuit says to upload into the credit card account, not a bank account (Intuit), and its upload walkthrough shows a reverse-all-values option for when every sign is the wrong way round (Intuit).
  • OFX and QBO files sign amounts from the cardholder’s view: purchases negative, payments positive, as the OFX specification requires.

Already have a card CSV with purchases as positive numbers? The bank CSV cleaner can flip the signs and reshape it for QuickBooks Online or Xero.

Questions

Does it read business card statements with several card members?
Yes. Transactions from every card member section are included once, in the order printed.
Can I get a CSV instead of Excel?
Yes. Every reconciled card statement downloads as Excel, CSV or Xero CSV, and as QBO, QFX or OFX with a free account.
