Check a QBO, QFX or OFX file before you import it
Find what is wrong inside a bank file: a broken header, a missing account block, impossible dates, unreadable amounts or repeated transaction IDs. Free, no account, and the file is not kept.
What a pass tells you, and what it does not
The file is well formed
Header, account, period, dates, amounts, transaction types and IDs all pass the validator’s checks, which rules out the problems it checks for.
Not that a program will accept it
QuickBooks or Quicken can still refuse a well-formed file, for example when they cannot verify the bank it comes from or the bank no longer supports Web Connect.
Not that the numbers are right
The file cannot prove its own transactions. Only the original statement can show whether a row is missing, doubled or signed the wrong way.
Starting from a PDF statement?
StatementLoom builds QBO, QFX and OFX files from text PDF statements and only lets you download once the transactions add up to the statement’s own balances. Try the free converter, read about PDF to QBO, or turn a bank file into CSV.
